Shelly Isaacs, founder of Cafe Cinematheque International, known as one of South Florida's most knowledgeable experts on foreign language films, returns to explore a great collection of films! Shelly holds an MA in Media Ecology Studies from New York University, where he served as Adjunct Professor in Cultural Studies. He currently teaches foreign-language film appreciation in the Lifelong Learning Society at Florida Atlantic University and Florida International University. In 2009, he launched Cinematheque at Sea, offering luxury cruise passengers a program of specially-selected films while cruising.
Shelly presents the final film in this series: "As It Is In Heaven," a 2005 Academy Award nominee, filled with comedy, drama and music. Daniel, a successful international conductor suddenly interrupts his career and returns alone to his childhood village in Norrland, in the far north of Sweden. When asked to come and listen to the fragment of a church choir, he can't say no, and from that moment, nothing in the village is the same again. The choir develops and grows. He makes both friends and enemies, and discovers what was missing in his life.
