For the past ten years, many thousands of people have gathered at Miramar Regional Park, united by one common cause - to support Joe DiMaggio Children's Hospital at its annual Tour de Broward event. The eleventh edition of the community fundraiser takes place Sunday, February 23rd. The event features a variety of activities for the entire family, including a 50K and 100K bicycle rides, a 5K timed run, 3K walk, and the “Power of Play Kids Zone,” a sports-themed, fun area for children 13 or younger. The event benefits Hollywood's Joe DiMaggio's Children's Hospital. Registration fees range from $15-$50, depending upon the event and the day you sign up; same-day registration is available. Downtown Hollywood Florida will once again host a Mardi Gras Celebration! Mardi Gras Hollywood will culminate with a Festival and Parade on February 23, 2020 from 1:00 PM – 7:00 PM. The festival will feature Live Music, a King and Queen Costume Contest, plenty of great food and drinks, and street vendors. The parade will have Krewes, marching bands and endless beads.

Valentina Bilbao connects music and painting, merging them in tangible visual artworks that depict her call for a better world. Music is inspiration and media for her abstract paintings of thick layers applied with knife palette, her most used media. Today, she also creates her ART including dripping and splashing techniques that add new colors to the paintings. The Exhibit, Valentina Bilbao ART is a Universe of Love, Peace, Music and Light, will take place from January 30th to March 5th 2020.

In celebration of African American History Month during the month of February, the City of Hollywood African American Advisory Council, in coordination with Barry University Center for Community Service Initiatives and Liberia Economic and Social Development, Inc. will be hosting the “4th Annual Talented 10th Poetry Slam” spoken word competition.
High school students are invited to participate in the poetry/spoken word night at Hollywood City Hall on Tuesday, February, 25th from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Students are encouraged to write their poems based on the topic "AFRICAN AMERICANS AND THE VOTE." Students should be prepared to recite their poem during the event.
First place winners will receive an "iPad Mini", the second place winner will receive a "Samsung Tablet", and the third place winner will receive a "Kindle Tablet" courtesy of the Liberia Economic and Social Development and AT&T Pioneers.

The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT), District Four, will conduct a Public Meeting regarding the Sheridan Street Resurfacing, Restoration and Rehabilitation (RRR) project from N 22nd Avenue to US 1. The meeting will begin as an informal open house at 5:30 p.m. with a formal presentation at 6:00 p.m., followed by a public comment period. Design plans and project information will be available for public viewing.
Proposed Roadway Improvements to include: mill and resurfacing existing pavement from N 22nd Avenue to US 1. Median modifications at 3 locations, rebuild select sidewalks and construct Americans with Disabilities Act compliant curb ramps, traffic signal and lighting upgrades at intersections within project limits. Construction is set to begin Spring 2021 and is anticipated to be completed by Spring 2022. Construction cost estimate: $1 million.

The City of Hollywood Sustainability Advisory Committee invites voters and elected officials to join in a conversation on Thursday, February 27th at 6:00 PM in Room 219, City Hall about pending climate legislation in Tallahassee and Washington, DC. It is important that voters and elected officials are able to make informed decisions that benefit our City and global community. Guest speakers include: Stephanie Pearson, League of Women Voters; Jeff Dorian, Broward Chapter Citizens’ Climate Lobby; and Adrienne Barmann, Broward Sierra Club. After short presentations by our guest speakers, we will open the floor for discussion among all in attendance. We encourage the public to ask questions and voice their opinions.
