Be Informed on Redistricting 2021

On Tuesday, December 7th, the Broward County Board of County Commissioners will be voting on new County Commission districts as part of the constitutionally-mandated redistricting process.

The commissioners have been presented with four map options which were drawn independently by Florida International University. These maps are designed to provide the best representation for our community in terms of compactness, communities of interest, demographics, and much more.

Out of the four map options, the commissioners will vote to approve one of them as the County Commission district map for the next ten years. The maps can be viewed at Broward.org/redistricting. These maps feature significant changes in the boundaries.

Project Opioid Broward

While the COVID-19 pandemic dominated lives over the past year and a half, the opioid epidemic has been surging – exacerbated by the stress of job loss, threat of evictions and the consequences of stay-at-home policies. According to the Department of Health, in 2019, Fentanyl Overdoses increased by almost 52% in Broward County.

Join the Greater Fort Lauderdale Alliance Foundation, in partnership with the Florida Blue Foundation and Project Opioid Florida as they officially launch Project Opioid Broward. The goal is to educate business, faith, and community leaders on how they can help save the greatest number of lives through building a coalition, creating a regional overdose initiative, and promoting high-level advocacy. Pre-register here.
