Traffic Alert: Daily Lane Closures on North 56th Avenue from North Hills Drive to Stirling Road
The Florida Department of Transportation has issued a traffic advisory for a partial closure on N 56th Avenue from North Hills Drive to Stirling Road. The northbound lane on N 56th Avenue from N Hills Drive to Stirling Rd will be closed Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. for roadway widening to accommodate the construction of 7-foot buffered bicycle lanes. Traffic will be detoured via eastbound N Hills Drive towards Sarazen Drive to then follow northbound Sarazen Drive to Stirling Road. Access will be maintained for school drop-off and pick-up, local residents, public transportation, and emergency responders only. Motorists are encouraged to seek an alternate route to avoid delays. Construction is expected to be completed in Summer 2021.
In addition, there is a temporary Sidewalk Closure North 56th Ave., from North Hills Dr. to North of Douglas St. The sidewalk on the east side of the road along N 56th Avenue from North Hills Drive to north of Douglas Road will be closed for the demolition of the existing sidewalk for roadway widening operations. Pedestrians will be detoured through North Hills Drive, Stirling Road and the west side of the road along N 56th Avenue. A new sidewalk will be installed once widening operations have been completed.
The estimated construction cost is $4,993,116 and is part of the FDOT’s Southwest Broward Mobility Improvement Project.
