[ARCHIVED] High seasonal tides can cause low-lying coastal areas to flood

King-Tides-

Based on the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s tide predictions, above average high tides are expected. High seasonal tides, also known as King Tides can cause low-lying coastal areas to flood. Motorists are urged to use caution and seek an alternative route to avoid traveling on flooded streets. Seasonal tides can raise the water level by more than 2 and a half feet during high tide which can cause coastal roads, parking lots and docks in vulnerable areas to flood during the times of high tide.  .

The City is working on both short and long-term solutions to help minimize the impacts of tidal flooding. NOAA predicts above average high tides October 14th through 21st and again November 13th through 18th. Please see the October Tidal Variations Forecast below.
