Do you know your flood risk? The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and Broward County are hosting Flood Risk Open Houses in Hollywood and other communities in Broward County to help you learn about the newly updated flood maps.
Community officials and FEMA representatives will be on hand to answer citizens’ questions about the maps, the mapping process and flood insurance.
The Broward County Flood Risk Open Houses will take place on:

During the open house, residents can locate their property on the new map and talk to members of the project team, flood insurance professionals, and state and local officials about what the information might mean for their property. No formal presentation will be given. Attendees do not need an appointment but should bring their elevation certificates, if possible.
Standard homeowners’, business owners’ and renters’ insurance policies typically don’t cover flood damage, so flood insurance is an important consideration for everyone. Visit www.floodsmart.gov or call 1-888-379-9531 for more information or to locate a local agent.
