The Sheridan Street bridge over the Florida Turnpike sustained damage during a recent accident that occurred on the Florida Turnpike. A truck with a lowboy struck the beam over the northbound lanes of the Florida Turnpike. Broward County is handling the necessary repairs to the beam and planning to repair some older damage to the portion of the bridge over the southbound lanes of the Turnpike at the same time. The following is a schedule of lane closures on the Turnpike to allow for the county to make the necessary repairs to the bridge:
- Beginning at 10:00 p.m. each Sunday through Thursday, contractors will close one lane in each direction (northbound and southbound) at the Sheridan Overpass on the Florida Turnpike. The lane closures are scheduled to end at 5:30 a.m. Contractor will take a second lane in each direction beginning at 11:00 p.m. and ending at 5:30 a.m.
The complex repairs are expected to be completed by Friday, April 26th, weather permitting. Motorists should seek an alternate route to avoid delays and possible traffic congestion during construction.
