FREE Tax Preparation Offered by IRS Certified Volunteers
Broward County taxpayers have an opportunity to have their taxes prepared by an IRS certified volunteer free of charge through the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program. VITA is a federal program created more than 40 years ago to assist individuals and families by allowing them to keep more of their money and save on tax preparation fees.
In addition to preparing taxes for free, trained IRS-certified volunteer tax preparers will work with you to determine your eligibility for special tax credits.
The VITA Program is offered at multiple Broward County locations, including Hispanic Unity, 5811 Johnson Street in Hollywood. Hispanic Unity is offering the service now through April 15, 2019 on the following days and times: Monday – Thursday from 4 p.m. – 9 p.m.; Friday from 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. and Saturday: 9 a.m. – 3 p.m.

In the 2018 tax season, more than 6,000 Broward County taxpaying working families and individuals took advantage of the VITA program. More than $6 million in taxes were refunded and nearly 40% of the individuals assisted qualified for additional tax credits.
