A water main break occurred on Wednesday, December 12th on A1A just north of Sheridan Street resulting in a loss of pressure and prompting a precautionary boil water advisory that will remain in effect until Friday morning, December 14th. A first round of water tests has come back clear and a second round of water samples are now being tested with results expected on Friday morning.
Water customers in the following area to boil their water for drinking purposes.
• A1A north of Sheridan Street up to and including the Dr. Von D. Mizell-Eula Johnson State Park.
Residents in the affected area should still not consume the water without boiling it first. Bring all water to a boil and let it continue boiling for one minute. Only boiled or bottled water should be used for drinking, making ice, brushing teeth, washing dishes, and food preparation. Again, a precautionary boil water order is in effect for water customers of the City of Hollywood located on A1A north of Sheridan Street up to and including the Dr. Von D. Mizell-Eula Johnson State Park. No other properties on the barrier island or in the City of Hollywood fall under this precautionary boil water alert at this time.
City of Hollywood Underground Utilities crews completed the additional repairs to the pipeline around 1:00 p.m. on December 12th and the system was brought back to normal working pressure. The first of two consecutive sets of water quality samples have been taken and within 18-hours the second set of water samples will be taken. As soon as "negative results" are obtained, meaning samples without contaminants for consecutive days, then the precautionary boil water advisory will be lifted. Until then, City of Hollywood water customers in the area NORTH of Sheridan Street up to and including Dr. Von D. Mizell-Eula Johnson State Park should continue to boil their water.
