Traffic and Parking Advisories

Coolidge Street at N 21 Avenue To Temporarily Close

Beginning on Monday, September 17th, Coolidge Street will be closed at N. 21 Avenue from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. The necessary closure is to allow for construction crews operating heavy equipment to work at a project site located at 2060 Coolidge Street in Hollywood. The closure will be in effect through late December, 2018.

• No east bound access to Coolidge Street from N 21 Avenue for the duration of the project. Traffic wishing to head east will be detoured north on N. 21st Avenue to Scott Street.

• Westbound travel on Coolidge Street between N 20 Avenue and N 21 Avenue will be allowed during off-hours (4:00 p.m. to 9:00 a.m.)

Detours will be in place to guide vehicular traffic, however motorist should plan to seek an alternate route to avoid delays or traffic congestion. For additional information on this project, please contact City of Hollywood Engineering Support Services Manager, Clarissa Ip, at 954.921.3915.

Hollywood Gardens West & Taft Street Sidewalk Improvement Project Construction Update

The Hollywood Gardens West Improvement Project is underway. The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) has awarded a $2.6 million contract to Horizon Contractors Inc., for improvements along the Hollywood Gardens West community and on Taft Street from N 20 Avenue to N 14 Avenue in Hollywood. Construction is slated to be completed in spring 2019.

On Monday, September 10th the contractor began constructing new sidewalks on Tyler Street from SR 7 to N 56 Avenue. This work will be done over approximately three weeks with crews working between 7:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m., weather permitting. Areas with existing sidewalk will not be affected.

The operation involves removing approximately six inches of existing soil and pouring concrete for the new sidewalks. The concrete will need to cure over a period of 72 hours before vehicles are able to drive over it. Private driveways will be inaccessible for approximately three days while crews work in front of each property. Inspectors will attempt to notify property owners before the work begins so they may move vehicle(s) as driveways will not be accessible during the 3-day work period until the concrete is cured.

Temporary parking in the swale will be allowed while this work is ongoing. FDOT has coordinated with Code Compliance on this project so citations will not be issued in areas where sidewalks are curing.

For additional project information, please contact Tyler Furrey, FDOT Construction Project Administrator at 954.958.7681 or Rebecca Guerrero, Community Outreach Specialist for FDOT Broward Construction at 954.940.7605.
