On June 21, 2017, the City of Hollywood received applications to remove the names of Confederate Generals from the following roadways: Forrest Drive; Forrest, Lee and Hood Streets. On November 15, 2017, the City Commission approved the change of names as follows: Forrest Drive to Freedom Street, Forrest Street to Freedom Street, Lee Street to Liberty Street and Hood Street to Hope Street.
The City has made arrangements with the Department of Motor Vehicles to provide no cost driver's license replacements to those living on the affect streets on the following days and locations:
April 25: City Hall, 2600 Hollywood Boulevard from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
May 3: City Hall, 2600 Hollywood Boulevard from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
May 5: Driftwood Community Center, 3000 N 69 Avenue from 10:00 a.m to 3:00 p.m.
May 12: Liberia Network Center, 2207 Raleigh Street from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
