The City of Hollywood, Hibernians of Hollywood and the Community Redevelopment Agency host the annual St. Patrick's Day Parade & Festival in downtown Hollywood on Sunday, March 11th from noon to 6:00 p.m.. This free celebration of all things Irish begins at noon, the parade begins at 1:00 p.m. and will travel east on Hollywood Boulevard from 21st Avenue to Young Circle, returning on Harrison Street to 21st Avenue.
Radio personality Footy will emcee the parade featuring an entire hitch of the world famous Budweiser Clydesdales, dozens of floats, local marching bands and spectacular bagpipe and drum corps including the famous New York Police Department Emerald Society Pipe and Drum Corps. Anniversary Park will go green and transform into the “Magic of the Emerald Isle” children’s activity area featuring games and crafts for youngsters of all ages.
The line-up of traditional Irish entertainment including Joe Dougherty, Celtic Bridge and UV the U2 Tribute Show. Performances will take place on the stage at 19th Avenue and Hollywood Boulevard.
Downtown Hollywood restaurants will be offering festival specials including Irish favorites like Corned Beef & Cabbage, Shepherd’s Pie and green-colored drinks!
$10 event parking in City-operated garages and additional parking will be available in marked lots throughout downtown. A designated Uber and Lyft drop off/pick up area will be at the Bank of America building at 1900 Tyler Street.
This year’s parade Grand Marshal is James (Jimmy) Lawless. Jimmy is from Lismore, County Waterford, Ireland and immigrated to the states in 1949. He worked at the Hollywood Beach Hotel for eighteen years, was a founding member of the local chapter of the Ancient Order of Hibernians and President for three years. He has also been a member and served on the board of the Irish American Ceili Club. Jimmy has been a member for over sixty years on the Hollywood American Legion Post 192.
