Resources for Active Serinors

The City provides many services, resources and recreation activities specifically tailored to seniors in our community. Most programs are free of charge for residents or offered at a nominal fee. This webpage is only a small sample of the more complete information provided within our website. The goal is to help streamline the search process and highlight a few of the  most popular topics of interest for our senior community. Additional detailed information can be found by using the "Search" toolbox found in the upper right corner of the website.

Hollywood Community Center Activities for Seniors

Consider trying your hand at painting watercolors, gliding across the floor while ballroom dancing, or discussing a great read as part of a book club. So many active and passive activities to choose from being offered at Community Centers across the City including the Fred Lippman Multi-Purpose Center where they host the Senior Holiday Luncheon and Spring Senior Prom and the Hollywood Beach Culture and Community Center. Programs, events and activities offered 

Elder Grant Program

The Elder Grant Program provides free organized outings and events to individuals who are age 60 and older living in Hollywood and Broward County. Outings usually include lunch or dinner. The program is based out of the Fred Lippman Multi-Purpose Center.  For questions regarding ticket distribution, please call 954.921.3408.

Aquatic Programs

The Driftwood community Pool, located at 3000 N. 69th Avenue in Hollywood, offers aquatic activities that include non-weight bearing exercise classes like Aqua Zumba and Water Aerobics, , lap swimming and open swim times. Call the Driftwood Pool at 954.967.4644 or click for More details

Tax Preparation

Reservations are required for free Income Tax Preparation Services by volunteers at the Fred Lippman Multi-Purpose Center. Call 954.921.3408.

Age- Friendly Community Task Force

Fourteen volunteers are needed to serve on the Age-Friendly Task Force. The goal of the team is to assist in the development of an action plan to ensure Hollywood is an Age-Friendly Community. This will include creating policies to support healthy aging and thereby improve the health, well-being, satisfaction, and quality of life for seniors living in the City of Hollywood. Social Services 

The City is committed to improving quality of life for all in Hollywood. The Community Development Division’s Social Services Coordinator, Barbara Lawson, can assist with referrals and recommendations for various agencies that provide services such as Medication, Rent and Mortgage, Utility or Transportation Assistance. Call Barbara at 954.924.2952. Broward County also provides a number of services you may not be aware of. Agency List  

Housing Programs 

Housing programs such as Foreclosure Assistance and Housing Rehabilitation and Repair Zero Interest Loans are available with the goal of adding value and stimulating positive change in economically challenged area. More details
