[ARCHIVED] Hollywood Police Strike Team Deploys to Florida's West Coast

HPD Strike Team Deployed

The Hollywood Police Department will deploy a team of officers and equipment to assist the storm-ravaged communities of Cape Coral and Fort Myers. HPD officers are compiling supplies and preparing several of HPD’s vehicles including a Bear Cat, Jeeps, and pickup trucks to assist local law enforcement in the impacted area. They will be heading to the west coast tomorrow morning.

The Hollywood officers will be part of a contingent of approximately 130 law enforcement personnel being coordinated by the Miami-Dade County Association of Chiefs of Police to assist those dealing with the catastrophic impacts of Hurricane Ian.  Hollywood officers will be on hand to help manage security and access and provide other mutual aid as requested by the local law enforcement agencies.

“While we escaped the worst of Hurricane Ian here in Hollywood, we know all too well the devastation these storms leave behind and our neighbors on the gulf coast are facing the most extreme situation we’ve seen in many, many years,” said Hollywood Police Chief Chris O’Brien. “Safety and security are two things we can help with at this critical time.”

The officers and equipment from Hollywood will be deploying from Lot 15 of the Hard Rock Stadium tomorrow morning at 6 a.m.
