The Department of Public Utilities is gearing up to begin the Utility Replacement along N. 26th Avenue Project in the North Central neighborhood this summer. The long anticipated project consists of the installation of 5,900 linear feet of new water, 1,300 linear feet of drainage pipes and 2,200 linear feet of Exfiltration Trenches (French Drains) in the neighborhood from Taft Street to Sheridan Street including several side streets. Work will take place in the public right-of-way and will require temporary lane closures throughout the project. The project is out for bid now. Construction is expected to start this summer and be substantially completed by December 2022.
Upon completion of the Utility Replacement along N. 26th Avenue, the N. 26th Ave Repaving Project will start. The Repaving Project will include milling and resurfacing of N. 26th Avenue from Taft Street to Sheridan Street. The Repaving of the N. 26th Ave Project is part of the Broward County Surtax Rehabilitation and Maintenance Project. Side Streets repaving will be funded by the Department of Public Utilities.
Milling and resurfacing of N. 26th Ave from Taft Street to Hollywood Blvd will take place in the spring of 2022. This section of the project is being funded through the City of Hollywood Gas Tax funds.
