Historic Preservation Month is celebrated throughout the Country during the month of May. This program was created by the National Trust for Historic Preservation to spotlight preservation efforts by local governments and communities. As a Certified Local Government, the City celebrates with great pride historic preservation as an effective tool for managing growth and sustainable development, revitalizing neighborhoods, fostering local pride, maintaining community character, and enhancing livability. It is important to celebrate the role of history in our lives and the contributions made by dedicated individuals in helping to preserve the tangible and intangible aspects of the heritage that has shaped the City. The selected theme this year theme is “ELEVATING OUR PAST, INNOVATING OUR FUTURE”
In recognition of this distinctive time, at the June 18, 2022 Commission Meeting, the Commission awarded five recipients in celebration of notable preservation initiatives within Hollywood, based on selections made by the Historic Preservation Board.
