[ARCHIVED] Therapy Dog, K-9 Casey

k9 casey Defender Fund

Over the past several years, the law enforcement profession has introduced Therapy Canines into the ever expanding tool box of resources in an effort to improve our service to the community.  These dogs have proven to be a valuable resource in reducing anxiety and increasing communication during investigations involving children, victims and witnesses. Additionally, studies indicate a positive emotional response by members of law enforcement agencies who have implemented similar programs, along with the benefit of promoting favorable public relations.  The Hollywood Police Department is proud to announce the inception of the HPD Therapy Canine Program!

Detective Doklean and Officer Wohlitka were selected as the primary and secondary handlers for K9 Casey respectively. They recently attended training with K9 Casey at Paws and Stripes College of Brevard County. The Department looks forward to utilizing our program in a variety of situations to include forensic interviews, critical and traumatic incidents, crimes involving children or vulnerable adults, special events, community outreach and school demonstrations.
