[ARCHIVED] Summer Meal Program

Summer Meal Program

Breakfast, lunch and a snack are offered for free to all children ages 18 and under during the summer break as part of the USDA Summer Feeding Program. Meal times vary depending upon the designated location, please call the City's Community Center directly for additional details. The menu varies each day; a typical breakfast includes cereal, milk and fruit, muffins or bagels. Lunch typically is a sandwich, chips, fruit, dessert and drink but can also include a hot meal. Meal service is on a first come, first serve basis.

The Summer Food Service Program (SFSP) is a federally-funded, state-administered program. SFSP reimburses program operators who serve free healthy meals and snacks to children and teens in low-income areas. The Summer Food Service Program is also offered at over 3,500 supervised locations through Florida.

Also, the USDA National Hunger Hotline remains a helpful resource for people seeking food assistance. The hotline, operated by Hunger Free America, can be reached Monday through Friday between 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. ET. at 1-866-3-HUNGRY (1-866-348-6479) or 1-877-8-HAMBRE (1-877-842-6273) (for Spanish).
