All funding has been committed for the City of Hollywood's CDBG Eviction Prevention & Rental Assistance Program. New applications will no longer be accepted. COVID-19 Emergency Rental Assistance
The Broward County Commission is working with community partners to launch an Emergency Rental Assistance program for residents who have been impacted by COVID-19 and meet certain income requirements. To apply, or for eligibility guidelines, instructions and the application portal, please visit the Broward County website. Once there, be sure to click on the plus sign next to "COVID-19 Emergency Rental Assistance" to see complete program details. PLEASE NOTE: This program is offered through Broward County. This is not a City of Hollywood program.
Reemployment Assistance (formerly Unemployment Compensation):
Reemployment Assistance benefits (formerly Unemployment Compensation) are available to Floridians whose employment has been negatively impacted as a result of the coronavirus (COVID-19), and is available for workers who lost their jobs through no fault of their own. In Florida, a maximum of $275 a week is typically available for a maximum of 26 weeks. The CARES Act has additional programs available to provide assistance for those whose employment was negatively impacted as a result of the pandemic.
According to the Florida Department of Economic Opportunity, if you were denied benefits or if you applied on or before April 4, 2020, you should reapply online at www.FloridaJobs.org (regardless of whether you have received a response from the department). This includes gig workers, independent contractors, the self-employed, people who just moved to Florida, or almost anyone else who wouldn’t normally be eligible for state benefits.
If you applied on or after April 5, 2020 the state will already be able to process your claim.
How can I apply?

In addition to applying online from a computer or mobile device, the Florida Department of Economic Opportunity is now accepting paper applications for Reemployment Assistance claims (available in English, Spanish and Creole). Here are three ways to obtain a paper application to mail in:
A) Download an application here and mail it to: Florida Department of Economic Opportunity, P.O. Box 5350, Tallahassee, FL 32314-5350.
B) FedEx is now offering free printing and mailing of Reemployment Assistance paper applications at over 100 storefronts across the state. Click here to find your nearest FedEx store location.
C) Pick up a paper application from a CareerSource Broward career center below, Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Once you have completed your paper application, please mail it to: Florida Department of Economic Opportunity, P.O. Box 5350, Tallahassee, FL 32314-5350.

PIN Trouble When Applying For Reemployment Assistance
If you are unable to reset your PIN online:
- Call the Florida Department of Economic Opportunity for assistance: 1-800-297-0586
- CareerSource Broward is now doing PIN resets for Reemployment Assistance (RA) customers in order to assist DEO with the overflow of PIN reset requests. Click here, scroll down to the “Get Help With Resetting Your CONNECT PIN” section, and click on the “Submit PIN Reset Request” button. This puts your name on a list so your PIN can be reset by CareerSource Broward staff.
Please note that in some cases, individuals may need to authenticate their identity. To do this, you will need to send a copy of your driver license and social security card to DEO:

FPL Assistance
While the wide majority of Florida Power and Light (FPL) customers are able to pay their bills, they do have customers struggling as a result of COVID-19. FPL remains committed to helping those customers still experiencing hardship by connecting them with referral services, such as 211, to find financial assistance. FPL continues to offer payment extensions, waive late fees and connect customers with available financial assistance. FPL continues to work closely with customers to do everything possible to avoid turning the lights off for nonpayment. Customers struggling to pay their bill need to take action now by calling FPL directly, toll-free, at 800-226-3545. Representatives are available to discuss a customer’s particular situation, and share information on available financial assistance.
Food Assistance
Together4Broward.org: This online resource, created in partnership with Broward County, provides a list of organizations throughout the county assisting, primarily, with nutritional support. The Florida Food Assistance Program administers the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, known as SNAP. To apply, go to myflorida.com/accessflorida and click the link “Apply for Benefits.”
Feeding South Florida: A regional food bank serving about 300 nonprofit agencies, is distributing ready-to-eat food. They have launched a COVID-19 Response Fund to help support those in need during the pandemic. Those who require assistance and for other benefits may visit feedingsouthflorida.org or call 954.518.1857.

Meals on Wheels South Florida
Area Agency on Aging of Broward’s Elder Helpline for Seniors over the age of 60 in need of food: 954.745.9779
The Aging & Disability Resource Center is offering free (frozen) meals deliveries to Broward County Seniors 60 + older. They even take into account allergies & dietary needs and Kosher requests. The only requirement is to live in Broward County and be 60 or older. Frozen meals are delivered in groups of 14 or 28 (1 or 2 weeks’ worth of meals) and delivered by Meals on Wheels. Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Miami “elderly service” program is providing meals to those in need who are 60 or older, live independently in their homes and are registered with the program. Xfinity and AT&T have opened up Wifi hotspots across the country so everyone can have access to the Internet for free, including non-customers. Broward County Public Schools (BCPS) 20/21 eLearning Childcare Resources - For eLearning to be successful families will need a safe place for their children to go during the day while they are at work. To support working families, BCPS’s Before and After School Child Care (BASCC) Department has collaborated with a Network of community partners and care providers. Childcare Options for healthcare workers, first responders, city and county staff - Select YMCA’s in both Miami-Dade and Broward will be providing child care services for kids of first responders, healthcare workers as well as city and county staffers. Florida’s Department of Education and the Office of Early Learning have approved funding for Early Learning Coalitions (ELC) to administer free child care for parents who are first responders or health care workers regardless of income. This funding is retroactive to April 1, 2020, for children birth to 13 years old.
ELC staff have ensured that children and families retain their child care eligibility (regardless of attendance), continue to assist parents find child care programs that are still open, provide early learning activities and programming for children birth to 5 who are at home, provide resources and information to early learning parents and providers, and working closely with the State to ensure that child care providers continue to be paid during this crisis.
Each Center is ready to help essential employees find available child care, provide them online resources for early childhood education, and assist in any way to support the early learning community.
