Citizens' Code
Compliance Academy
The Fifth Citizens' Code Compliance Academy was conducted in
March 2008. Participants
were greeted by the Mayor and Commissioners. The
Academy was conducted over four evenings. Certificates of Completion
were awarded to citizens who attended all four sessions. Following
are comments from some attendees:
- "Very
well put together program."
-
"The speakers were great!"
- "Fantastic!
Looking forward to future classes."
-
"I am extremely happy with this program."
-
"Another wonderful opportunity for residents of Hollywood to
learn and appreciate how the City works."
The goal of the Academy is to provide citizens an understanding of
how the code Compliance process works. There will be informational
presentations from our collaborative partners as well as an
opportunity to participate in an observational ride-along program.
There is no cost to attend the Academy, however seating is limited.
The next Academy is being planned. Contact Everett Lawson
at (954) 921-3061 to reserve your space.
"Operation
Paintbrush"
The City of Hollywood began distributing free exterior house paint in
1999 in conjunction with Broward County's "Paint It Broward" program.
More than 30,000 gallons of paint have been distributed to Hollywood
residents and approximately 2,000 houses painted since
"Operation
Paintbrush" began.
"Vinnie the
Violator"
"Vinnie the Violator"
was conceived and written by Code Compliance Officers Irish Gardner
and Ed Dearth. The officers also play the lead roles. The video was
recognized nationally for its innovative approach. Presentations are
made to children at school to educate them about the important role of
code compliance in maintaining property standards.
