Visual Waste Audit**
Doing a visual waste audit helps you figure out how much waste and what type of waste your organization generates. You will find instructions on how to empty your garbage cans on a tarp and analyzing it. You can also do a quick waste audit by looking into all your garbage cans, taking photos, and noting which materials you have. **Fill in a form for each waste source
What you will need
Pencils/pens
One medium to large tarp
Gloves
Box cutter
Camera
consider puncture-proof gloves
How to Prepare
Decide where you will lay out your tarp and your waste
Gather garbage cans that you will use in your audit
Ask your janitorial staff to set aside garbage bags for a couple of days ; Do not notify the staff or tenants
Label where the garbage bags came from
What to do
Place the waste on your tarp per bag
Take pictures, notice the materials you have
Count and Weight each material type and fill in form
