The Arts Park Gallery at Young Circle will host a special showing of selected “Drop Savers” Contest works from Tuesday, March 22nd thru Thursday, March 30th.
This show for exceptional Water Conservation themed works will include the top 5 entries from each of the two upper age categories. In addition to recognition at the Regular City Commission meeting during National Drinking Water Week in May, this special exhibit is a great way for the public to view the works of these student artists/conservationists.
About the “Drop Savers” Program
The “Drop Savers” Water Conservation Poster Contest is a state-wide contest sponsored by the Florida Section of the American Water Works Association (FSAWWA). The contest is designed to educate students about the importance of water and engage them in water conservation messaging through the poster creation process. Allowing students creative freedom results in original messages and artwork about this important resource. Although the FSAWWA sponsors the overall contest, municipalities are responsible for overseeing their own local program. Each participating City sends their first place entries in each age category to the state finals which are judged by the FSAWWA for additional prizes. Judging is based on originality, neatness, and relation to the water conservation theme. Last year, over 25 municipalities competed in the state finals and one of the winners in the K-1 Division was from Hollywood. The City of Hollywood has been a participating in the Drop Savers Program since 1994.
