THIEVES TARGET HONDAS, ACURAS FOR AIRBAGS:
It can be done in just a matter of minutes. Thieves going from car to car in a crowded parking lot - stealing airbags. They usually target Hondas and Acuras.
We've seen an increase in airbag thefts in the City of Hollywood and across South Florida in the past few months. While the thefts occur city-wide, there are steps you can take to reduce the chances of this happening to you:
* Utilize a lock on your steering wheel
* Utilize a car alarm
* Park in a well-lit location
* Keep your vehicle locked at all times
* Take out your valuables
ONCE A CLUB KID....NOW AN OFFICER
On January 19, 2018 the Florida Panthers honored Wayne Huizenga and the Boys & Girls Clubs of Broward County for their involvement in the community. Officer Shana Rodriguez, who grew up in the Marti Huizenga Club of Hollywood, was asked to speak on behalf of BGCBC for the The Florida Panthers Foundation Community of Champions
"The Boys and Girls Club of Broward County provided a positive environment and instilled morals and values in me that I will forever be grateful for. Through the Club, I had my first ever interaction with an officer..... Officer Greg Saladino, who was our SRO (School Resource Officer). From there, the Hollywood Police Department was continuously involved in a positive way throughout the years. They assisted with special events, donated time, money and toys to the members of the Huizenga Unit. The morals and values instilled in me through the Club are ones that have helped to make me the woman I am today. I believe growing up in the Club contributed greatly to my career choice as I wanted to stay within my community and continue to make an impact. As an officer now, I also have the opportunity to give back to the organization who helped me get to where I am at today." ~ Ofc. Shana Rodriguez.
