Jr Lifeguard Program

Overview

Hollywood Fire Rescue and Beach Safety' s Jr. Lifeguard Program provides the children of our community with a sound aquatic background, acquaints them with the hazards of ocean swimming and exposes them to an environment that teaches confidence and good sportsmanship.  The Jr. Lifeguard Program is offered to children ages 8 to 17 years of age during the summer months. The one week program consist of:
  • Ocean and Beach Safety
  • Lifesaving techniques and procedures
  • Rescue board and ocean kayak skills
  • Ecology
  • First aid and competition in ocean lifeguard events

How to Enroll

Registration and waiver forms will be available here on this webpage during the registration period. Forms may be filled out and brought to the Beach Safety Headquarters, located at 707 South Ocean Drive on Hollywood Beach. Applications will be accepted on a first come first serve basis during the registration period. Space is limited.
 

Uniform Policy


Lifeguards will be issued a shirt and shorts. Please wear uniform to class.
 


Items to Bring


It is recommend that sunscreen be worn at all times. There are also facilities to change in, so you can bring a change of clothes and a towel. We will provide water and Gatorade to drink. If you would like to bring your own food or drink, a cooler will be provided.
