Debra A. Case was born in Burlington Vermont in 1957 and has worked in business management at various levels ever since high school. She began her professional career as a teenager working after school at Dunkin Donuts and later was hired to manage various retail businesses including Hathaway Shirt Company’s retail outlet and Hickory Farms. While still in her twenties, after six years as an outlet manager, Debra was recruited by the Dunham Shoe Company in Brattleboro Vermont as a buyer and was responsible for a $3 million budget for 25 outlet stores throughout New England.

In 2000, Case and her husband Terry moved to Hollywood. Though the area at that time was riddled with slum and blight, the beach showed tremendous potential and opportunity. To that end, Case started as a book keeper, progressed to manager and then to owner of Ocean Alley Restaurant and Beach Bar. During that period, she created positions for thirty four employees and developed one of the most successful, profitable and well-known restaurants on the City’s award winning Hollywood Beach Broadwalk.

Case became involved with issues on Hollywood Beach in her role as President of the Hollywood Beach Business Association. She has served on various advisory committees, and attended numerous City Commission and CRA Board meetings, as well as working with the CRA Executive Director on issues. In 2013 she was awarded the Greater Hollywood Chamber of Commerce’s “Business Women of the Year” and in 2017 she was awarded the Greater Hollywood Chamber of Commerce’s “Leadership Hollywood Award.” Yet Case says her proudest accomplishment is being elected District 1 Commissioner. She was named Vice Mayor in December 2017.

Case has been married for 31 years to Terrence Case, a retired college professor. She is one of seven children and her parents still reside in their same home in Burlington Vermont. She has two children, Emily and Tyler and two grandchildren, Case and Will.
